Bio

Sean Briskey is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and instructor based out of Chicago, IL.  Currently, he performs frequently with a variety of both original and tribute projects.  Sean was surprised with a guitar at the age of 10 by his father and has not looked back since.  His first band Lobster Newberg was an original progressive rock outfit, playing complex songs with odd meters and meandering passages. Drawing influences from the likes of King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Yes, and Frank Zappa, Sean co-wrote and recorded his first album with Lobster Newberg when he was just 16 years old.  As his musical taste grew, so did his motivation to learn more.  He joined his high school's jazz band and began learning the art of improvisation.

By the time he was a senior in high school, he had performed at many notable Chicagoland venues and shared bills with national touring acts such as The Alan Parsons Project and The Ides Of March.  After just one semester at Loyola University Chicago, Sean switched his history major to music after realizing where his true passion was.  Studying under Chicago jazz giants Kyle Asche, Pat Fleming, Anthony Molinaro, and Victor Garcia, he gained a tight grasp on music theory and multiple genres/styles.

In recent years, Sean has co-written and released two albums with his main original project Stampy as well as collaborated on a full length release from Great Sky Band (both bands now defunct).   In addition to Sean's original work, two exciting tribute projects (Peach Jam/Brooklyn Charmers) keep him busy as he continues to teach and stay active in the Chicago music scene wherever a tune finds him.
